GenePattern 3.9.2 is Released!

GenePattern 3.9.2 is available for use on our Public GenePattern Server, via download, and as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI). The Release Notes give details on new features and fixes. These include:

  • Searching jobs by tag or comments
  • Faster upload of files larger than 2 GB
  • A new installer for Mac, genepattern.app, which replaces the previous Install Anywhere wizard with a native Mac app installer/launcher. Details are found below.

More details about 3.9.2 may be read about in our release notes.

Installing GenePattern on Mac OS X Mavericks (v10.9) or Yosemite (v10.10)
 
  1. Download the Mac app. It will be zipped and depending on browser used, you may need to double-click to unzip the file.
  2. Move GenePattern.app file to a permament location where it can be saved and will not be deleted. (such as /Applications)
  3. If you have administrator privileges on your Mac, skip to the directions in the next section. If you do not, keep reading.
  4. Double-click on the GenePattern.app (if you see an error, see below for a possible work around)
  5. The default fields for R, Perl, and Java should not require changing, as they are set to the default location for Mac.
  6. Finsh the installation and your default browser should come up and display the registration page. 
  7. You're done!
For more advanced GP administration you will want to look for the /users/<yourusername>/.genepattern folder. More information about GenePattern administration can be found in our Administrators Guide. If you have questions or comments, please contact us.
 
Error when installing app 
 

If you see a pop up an error like the one below, it may mean that you do not have sufficient privileges to install GenePattern on your Mac. If you click on the "?" you will find more information, but may need to contact your IT department.
